About the Project
Book Circles is a team project created for the Adobe Creative Jam UX Design Bootcamp in collaboration with Scholastic book fairs. All teams had one week to design.
The challenge was to design a mobile tool to help communities host book sharing events, safely, during a pandemic. The mobile apps purpose is to increase access to new or used books to school-age children.
Project Vision
Book Circles is a children's book app that allows kids to keep their book collection in one place, shop for new books, trade books, view upcoming book related events, and join live book readings. Users will be able to join "Circles" in order to interact with friends, teachers, and other students.
Objectives
•Kids will be able to join live virtual events and interact with other kids and teachers.
• Kids will have access to new book by having a parent purchase books, or trading with other members in their circle.
•School students will be able to see when their next book fair will take place.

Information Architecture
The information architecture shown below depicts the layout of where the apps functions will live. The idea was to separate the app into three main user functions. A profile tab that lets you manage and view the most essential information for you, a book circles tab where you'll get featured and upcoming events that are most relevant to the user, and a shop tab that allows the user to discover, buy, and donate books.
Digital Wireframes
The Digital wireframes is when our app started to come to life. We began by focusing on the essential functions of the app. By following the information architect, we were able to design the placement of elements for all three tabs. "My Profile", "Shop", and, "Book Circles".
Style Guide
For Book Circles, we wanted to choose light colors that brought comfort to users. By using a light blue and red users can easily distinguish buttons throughout the app. The light colors also gives users a calm feeling which is great for when you need to focus on the book being read.
Take Aways
Book Circles was a fun short project that felt like a design sprint. I loved creating something that has potential to make a difference on the future of education for the kids in school today. This is a project that was designed in one week and I'd love to improve and iterate on this idea to build it up and be the best that it can be.
